La Retraite man dies after Yarrowkabra collision

A Massy Stores Guyana manager died after a collision on Friday night along the Yarrowkabra Public Road, Soesdyke-Linden Highway. 

Dayle Jordan, 35, of La Retraite, West Bank Demerara, who was riding a motorcycle with a pillion rider onboard, was killed after he reportedly overtook a car and ended up in the path of a pick-up truck. The accident occurred around 11.30 pm. The Guyana Police Force said Jordan and his pillion rider, a 29-year-old La Retraite woman, were proceeding along the road when it is alleged that he overtook a car and collided with a pick-up truck.

The report added that the dead man and the injured woman were both taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where Jordan was pronounced dead and the woman was admitted as a patient.

Meanwhile, breathalyser tests that were conducted on the 51-year-old driver of the pick-up truck revealed that his alcohol level was above the legal limit.

The driver, who resides at Bath settlement, West Coast Berbice, is in custody.
