Man, 22, shot thrice in ambush on Barbie Dam

A twenty-two-year-old labourer is currently nursing gunshot wounds at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after he was shot three  times about his body by one of four persons at Barbie Dam, East La Penitence, Georgetown.

The victim, Osafo Johnson, according to a police report,  left Tower Hotel yesterday morning with his twenty-six-year-old wife and boarded a Toyota Axio car owned and driven by David Green. At about 4.45 am the driver of the car stopped at Barbie Dam for the couple to walk to their home when two cars blocked the path of the car they were in.

It was said that the occupants of the two cars exited and called out for Johnson. Johnson along with his wife exited the car and attempted to flee when one of the men fired his gun hitting Johnson on his hands and abdomen. The perpetrators then escaped.

Johnson was escorted to the GPH where he was admitted. His condition is listed as stable.

Police have since detained Green for further questioning. Two 9mm spent shells and one suspected 9mm war head were recovered from the scene.
