La Jalousie businessman robbed at gunpoint

A La Jalousie businessman was on Tuesday night held at gunpoint by one of two  men at his minimart and robbed of cash and other personal items totalling $160,000.

The victim, 32-year-old Junior December, of Gap Road, La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara was robbed of a gold ring valued $20,000, a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro which cost $65,000, a quantity of Digicel and GTT phone cards totalling $15,000 and $60,000 in cash.

According to a police report, December was in his store at about 6.55pm when he noticed two men entering the store. Some twenty-five minutes later, at about 7.20pm, one of the men whipped out a handgun and commanded that he remain quiet while the other suspect relieved him of cash and the aforementioned items. The men reportedly fired a shot while making their escape.

Police investigations continue.
