Broadway Hotel has thrown its support behind the Golden Jaguars senior men’s programme for the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in March by making an undisclosed financial contribution to aid  the team’s ongoing preparation.

According to a release from the Guyana Football Federation (GFF)  the company, which is located in Broad Street, has urged other private sector entities to support the programme in their bid to secure qualification to the prestigious championship.

Broadway Hotel Managing Director Alepemo Peters said, “The Guyana Golden Jaguars are preparing for what will be a very difficult 2022 World Cup qualification campaign. I believe we all have a responsibility to help them in every way that we can and I am personally pleased to support the nation’s team. I would like to encourage other corporate entities to support our Golden Jaguars in their quest to qualify for the FIFA 2022 World Cup.”

He added, “If this contribution helps a young player to move one step closer to the realisation of his dream to represent the Golden Arrowhead – then this would be a tremendous source of satisfaction for the management of Broadway Hotel.”

General Manager of Broadway Hotel Junica Pluck made the donation to Guyana Football Federation (GFF) President Wayne Forde. Meanwhile Forde said, “On behalf of the players, staff and the GFF, I would like to say thank you to Broadway Hotel for supporting our national team at this exciting time. The qualification process for the FIFA World Cup requires a huge allocation of resources and cannot be managed without the help, commitment and generosity of our private sector partners.”

He further said, “We are, therefore, grateful for thus timely contribution, which will help us prepare the team in the best way possible for its World Cup journey after such a long lay-off due to the pandemic. We hope that many other partners will also come on board to join us on this amazing journey as the whole nation gets behind the Golden Jaguars this year.”

The Guyanese were drawn in group-F in the first stage of the Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers, a pool which contains traditional rival Trinidad and Tobago, St. Kitts and Nevis, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. Guyana will open their campaign away to Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday March 25th, before hosting the Bahamas on March 30th.

In their third match, Guyana will travel to St. Kitts and Nevis for Friday June 4th before ending their group round at home on Tuesday June 8th against Puerto Rico.
