Three men succumb to COVID

The Ministry of Health yesterday said that three more men who had tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.

Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll is now 193 after a 65-year-old man died yesterday. According to the Ministry of Health, the man died while receiving care at a medical facility. Earlier in the day, the ministry had reported two  other fatalities: a 48-year-old from Region Four and a 63-year-old from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara).

Meanwhile five new COVID-19 cases were recorded yesterday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Guyana to 8,457 as shown on the Ministry of Health’s daily COVID-19 dashboard. The new cases emerged from 827 tests done yesterday. It was also stated that the five new cases are from Region Four.

The statistics show seven persons are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 37 persons in institutional isolation, 387 persons in home isolation and 11 persons in institutional quarantine. To date, 7,834 persons who were infected with the disease have recovered.
