NAFICO on board with Big Man Cricket

Insurance giants, North American Fire & General Insurance Company Limited (NAFICO) is the latest sponsor of the Big Man Cricket tournament.

During a simple ceremony yesterday, the insurance company of Regent & Hinck Streets, officially partnered with the tournament which is set to bowl off  Saturday.

North American Life Insurance Company Limited (Nalico) and North American Fire and General Insurance Company Limited (Nafico) are two of the largest life and general insurance companies with 15 branches across Guyana and are wholly owned subsidiaries of the Edward B Beharry & Co. Ltd.

NALICO offers a wide range of Life, Health, Pension and Annuity product while NAFICO offers a wide range of Property, Liability and Motor Insurance products.

In a release from the organisers, it stated that, Basil Mahadeo, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the company, readily agreed to co-sponsor the Big Man Cricket tournament since he believes it would help to get our senior cricketers more actively involved in the game of cricket which ultimately would lead to healthier lifestyles and enhancement of the community.

The Over-45 tournament is expected to be a 25-overs-a-side affair. Several teams have already registered for the tournament while several others have expressed interest in being part of the action. The tournament is scheduled to run throughout the weekends from March 13 to April 18 with each team anticipated to have a home venue to host matches. Meanwhile, the BMC Committee is inviting one or two representatives from each registered team to be present at the BMC pre-tournament meeting today from 5.30pm at the GCC Upper Pavilion. Umpires, scorers and commentators are also invited to attend this important meeting to uplift their copy of the playing conditions.  The launch of this tournament is set for Friday at the GCC Upper Pavilion at 2.00pm.
