One more COVID death, 81 new cases reported

Eighty-one new cases of COVID-19 were yesterday  recorded even as one new fatality was reported.

This was announced by the Ministry of Health in a press release where it stated that one more person who tested positive for the virus has died thus increasing the country’s death toll to 205. The latest fatality was identified as a 59-year-old man from Region Four who died while receiving care at a medical facility.

Meanwhile some 81 new cases of the virus were recorded which increased Guyana’s total number of positive confirmed cases to 8,928. The new cases came after some 743 more persons were tested, which also increased the total number of persons tested in the country to date to 72,120.

There are now 504 active cases, 472 of whom are in home isolation while another 32 are in institutional isolation. Eight  patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
