The Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Prison Service yesterday conducted a search at the Lusignan Prison where a number of prohibited items were seized.
The exercise was conducted in the holding cells between the hours of 6 am and 8.15 am.
Among the items found were 34 improvised weapons, 5 cellular phones, 3 cellular phone chargers, 6 lighters, 3 earpieces, 3 SIM cards, 4 pieces of broken mirrors, 1 bottle of fermented wine, 7 bottles of oil and a quantity of suspected cannabis weighing 34 grammes.
The prohibited items were taken to the Vigilance Police Station and lodged.
