D’Edward CC booked their spot in the final of the BCB/Jafferally T20 tournament.

D’ Edward Cricket Club Saturday advanced to the final of the Berbice Cricket Board/Faizal Jafferally MP T20 tournament after beating Blairmont CC by 16 runs at the Cotton Tree Ground, West Berbice.

The lone semi-final was played under very strict Covid-19 regulations and D’ Edward CC won the toss and batted, posting 141 for six.

They then restricted Blairmont to 125 for seven.

D’Edward found themselves in a spot of bother after Javed Karim bowled Deonauth Persaud without scoring and pugnacious batsman, Altaf Khan was caught off of left-arm spinner, Nigel Deodat to slip to 5-2 in the second over.

Devindra Lalsa then trapped Deo Persaud leg before wicket for seven as the score quickly reached 12-3.

However, veteran duo of Heralall Bridgelall and skipper Jaipaul Heralall joined forces at 68 for five and quickly added 52 in the space of four overs to give their side a much-needed boost.

Bridgelall hammered two sixes and seven fours on his way to 74 not out while Heralall supported with 15. Kevon Jawahir made a 21-run cameo. Karim ended with 4-30 and Deodat 2-22.

In reply, Bridgelall took 2-3 and Keith Fraser 2-28.

Blairmont had their moments with Deodat at the crease. He stroked two sixes and six fours on his way to 54 while Karim also found success with the bat on his way to 41, laced with two sixes and three fours. However, the youthful side fell behind the scoring rate to eventually bow out of the tournament.
