Eleven-year-old boy drowns at Enmore seawall

Eleven-year-old Latchman Ramanand on Tuesday drowned while on a fishing trip at the Enmore North seawall, East Coast Demerara.

Ramanand of Foulis Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara drowned between 15.30 hours and 17.56 hours.  The Guyana Police Force in a report stated that the child left home in the company of a relative to go fishing at Enmore North seawall.

He was later seen entering the water and shortly after was observed struggling  after which he became submerged.

His lifeless body was recovered and taken to the CC Nicholson Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A post-mortem examination revealed his cause of death as asphyxiation due to drowning.
