A 24-year-old Swan Village, Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway man was stabbed to death yesterday.

Roy Ross is believed to have been killed sometime between 11pm on Sunday and 6am yesterday.

According to Lurna Welcome, the mother-in-law of the deceased, she was informed of Ross’ demise on Monday morning.

The house where Roy Ross was found dead

The woman told Stabroek News that she initially asked “which Roy” was found dead since there are two persons with the same name in the family. She noted that after having learnt that it was her son-in-law, she immediately woke up her daughter and shared the tragic news.

The woman said her daughter and grandson had stayed the night at her home since Ross often worked late hours and would sometime return home around 10pm.

Welcome said she last saw Ross on Saturday night when he visited her home to charge his phone and watch a movie.

She noted that he later left her residence as he had to work early the following morning.

Another family member, who asked not to be named, stated that a neighbour of the deceased observed that a door of Ross’s house was ajar when he arrived on Sunday night. The family member said that the neighbour stated that the door was still open yesterday morning, which led to him investigating and he discovered Ross lying motionless on the floor in his home. He then raised an alarm.

The family member added that another occupant of the same neighbour’s home stated that she heard sounds coming from Ross’ home on Sunday night but disregarded it as a fight between Ross and his wife.

The woman said she later saw two persons fully clothed in black exiting the deceased’s yard and heading towards the bushes across from his house.

Nothing was reported missing from the home.

The family member said that she was informed by the sister of the deceased that when Ross’ cellular phone was called a man answered and informed that the deceased owed him money.

Meanwhile, Wesley Calistro, the father of Kameel Calistro, of Swan Village, who was fatally stabbed in March, is concerned over the recent killing in the community. He said the residents are calling on the authorities to place a police station in the village. (Readawne Henery)
