Sophia clothes vendor charged with Goed Fortuin robbery

A suspect who was positively identified as one of the perpetrators in a string of recent robberies in the Region Three District was yesterday brought before the court on a Robbery under Arms charge.

The accused, Christopher Cornette, a 22-year-old clothes vendor of Lot 830 ‘B’ Field, Sophia, George-town, appeared before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Wales Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read to him.

It is alleged that Cornette on March 30, 2021 robbed Jadeshwar Doolchand at Goed Fortuin Squatting Area, West Bank Demerara.

He was not required to plead to the charge and bail was refused.

April 22nd was set for report and fixture.

Meanwhile, the accused who has two  pending charges involving the two men who were robbed while dining at a Chinese restaurant in Pouderoyen is expected to face charges in relation to the matter on April 12 at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court.
