New infections take COVID cases to date over 11,000

The Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday reported that 86 more COVID-19 cases have been confirmed, taking the country’s total number of recorded cases over 11,000.

The new cases brings the total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Guyana to 11,044.

According to the MoH COVID-19 dashboard, 55 of the new cases are from Region Four, one from Region Two, 15 from Region Three, 4 from Region Five, 3 from Region Six and 8 from Region Ten. The results were confirmed from 548 tests that were conducted yesterday.

The dashboard also showed that there are 14 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 71 in institutional isolation, 1,033 in home isolation and 15 in institutional quarantine. The dashboard said that 252 persons who were infected with the virus have died, while 9,688 have recovered.

Based on the dashboards released from last Sunday to yesterday, a total of 504 persons tested positive for the virus, while 5,662 were tested.
