Eighty-eight new COVID cases reported

Eighty-eight new COVID-19 cases were yesterday recorded and 15 persons are in the country’s Intensive Care Unit.  The death toll remains at 258.

This was revealed in the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard which showed that the 88 new cases increased the total number of  confirmed cases in the country to 11,277. The new cases came after some 1,517 more persons were tested for the virus thus increasing the total number of persons tested to date to 101,263.

The new cases were reported in eight of the country’s ten administrative regions; one new case each in Regions Two and Ten, 16 in Region Three, 47 in Region Four, 10 in Region Five, six in Region Seven and two in Region Nine.

As a result there are now 1,208 active cases in the country, 77 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 1,131 are in home isolation. The number of persons in the country’s COVID-19 ICU has decreased by two, leaving some 15 persons in the unit.

Forty-five more persons have recovered which increased the total number of recovered cases to 9.796.
