West La Penitence man accused of raping 11-year-old

A West La Penitence, Georgetown man was on Friday charged with raping a minor under the age of 16.

The accused, Stephen Gordon, 27, appeared before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, who read the charge to him.

It is alleged that Gordon on December 29, 2020, while at West La Penitence, Georgetown engaged in sexual penetration of the 11-year-old child.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charged and was subsequently released on $200,000 bail.

He is expected to make his next court appearance on May 5, 2021.

It was reported that the child on the day in question was sent to a shop to purchase some items but did not return until the following day.

The reports revealed that on the following day the mother received a call from a relative who informed her that the child was found.

The child was subsequently questioned by her mother and later related that she spent the night at Gordon’s house, where he allegedly raped her.
