Police are currently investigating the torching of a car on Friday night at Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
In a press release yesterday, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the discovery was made around 9.15 pm at Green Field Access Road, also known as Stadium Road, Providence, EBD.
According to the release, a team of ranks attached to Region 4B were on patrol duty in a force vehicle, PWW 5408, when they noticed a white Toyota Spacio vehicle on fire.
The Guyana Fire Service was summoned to the scene but by time the fire was extinguished, the car was already destroyed.
The registration number of the vehicle is unknown.
A police investigation has since been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Checks were also made in the area of CCTV footage to aid in the investigation.
