The proprietor of Tan Yuan Meng Supermarket in Diamond, on the East Bank Demerara, was robbed at gunpoint by two men on Saturday morning.
The police said that the robbery occurred around 7.30 am. The victim, identified as Lianggeng Wu, was reportedly confronted by two men while he was opening the supermarket. One of the suspects was armed with a gun, which he pointed towards Wu while forcefully ushering him into the supermarket.
The robbers subsequently demanded cash and Wu, who was fearful for his life, handed over $300,000. The suspects then escaped in a car.
