A suspect in the armed robbery committed on a Health International Inc staffer, who was robbed of over $1.5 million after being pulled from his vehicle in Charlestown, was yesterday charged with the crime and released on $50,000 bail.

The accused, Sherwin Fraser, a 32-year-old bus driver of 76 Second Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in a Georgetown court.

It is alleged that Fraser, while in the company of others, robbed Derick Doodnauth of $1,506,210 and a quantity of cheques, which were property of Health International Inc.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on $50,000 bail.

Fraser was ordered to report to the Ruimveldt Police Station fortnightly until the completion of his trial.

The matter was subsequently adjourned until May 10, 2021.

During the attack, carried out by four men on two motorbikes, Doodnauth was violently dragged out of his moving vehicle.
