Howes St women charged with assaulting each other

Sandra Fraser, 46, of Lot 35 Howes Street, Charlestown and Azola Austin, 30, also of Lot 35 Howes St appeared yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer charges of assault and abusive language.

Fraser stood before Magistrate Judy Latchman  on a charge of abusive language and assault. It was alleged that on 12th August, 2023, at Howes Street she made use of abusive language in breach of the peace and unlawfully assaulted Austin.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge of abusive language and was fined $10,000 or 21 days imprisonment. She entered a not guilty plea on the charge of common assault and was granted bail in the sum of $20,000.

Austin also stood before Magistrate Latchman on the allegation that on the same day and location she used abusive language in breach of the peace and assaulted Fraser.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges that were read to her. Following her not guilty plea, she was placed on bail in the sum of $30,000.

The two are expected to make their next court appearance on 27th September for statements.
