A twenty-year-old miner is missing and feared drowned after he and another miner went to bathe on Tuesday in a creek near their mining camp in Mabura, Region Ten

The miner has been identified as Akeem Davidson, of Retrieve, MacKenzie, Linden.

According to the police, it was reported to them by Sheldon Vanaco that he accompanied Davidson to the creek, located about 300 meters away from their camp, where they went to bathe.

At about 2.15pm Davidson was swimming in the creek when according to Vanaco, he went down and did not surface.

Vanaco stated that he shouted for Davidson but after fifteen minutes had elapsed and he had gotten no response he went back to the camp and alerted the owner, Ephraim Benn, of what had transpired. They both then went in search of Davidson but their attempts were futile.

The mining camp is located approximately 5 kilometers from the Mabura Police Outpost. A police report was made and ranks were dispatched to the area to search for the missing miner. However, up to Tuesday midnight, there still was no sign of him.

Both Vanaco and Benn have been taken into police custody and are assisting with investigations.
