A man is now awaiting charges after he allegedly admitted to ownership of cannabis found on him by police at Itaballi, Region Seven.

According to the police, the 34-year-old man admitted to being the owner of 517 grammes of cannabis found in the truck he was travelling in. It was reported that the suspect was among five persons who were intercepted by the police last Thursday at 8.15 am.

The report stated that the truck stopped at the Itaballi checkpoint to be recorded and during the process, the truck was searched and a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis, was found wrapped in a transparent plastic which was concealed in a navy blue jacket.  The five persons were arrested and taken to the Bartica Police Station, where the man admitted to being the owner of the narcotics. The cannabis was then weighed in his presence and he has remained in police custody, pending charges.
