Craig shopkeeper robbed at home by knife-wielding bandits

A fifty-seven-year-old shopkeeper was robbed at knife point of articles valued at more than half a million dollars by gunmen who broke into her home in the wee hours of yesterday.

The victim who resides at Third Street, Craig, East Bank Demerara has reported her losses to be: two 50-inch TCL television sets valued at $500,000, 1 pair of gold earrings – $10,000, 1 gold ring – $27,000, and $5,000 in cash.

According to a police report, about 1.30am yesterday the victim was awakened by two men armed with knives who demanded money.

The bandits then ransacked the woman’s house before leaving with the abovementioned articles. They escaped through a window in an unknown direction. The window the men escaped through was reported to be the same window on the eastern side of the house where they gained entry. The suspects gained entry into the home by cutting a steel grill.

Investigations are ongoing.
