Herstelling taxi driver, wife bound and robbed in home invasion

A taxi driver of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara was on Tuesday night attacked by gunmen who bound him and his wife before proceeding to rob them of cash and valuables.

Among the articles stolen were one Samsung S8 cell phone valued at $80,000, a Samsung J3 cell phone – $40,000, a Samsung Smart television – value unknown, a quantity of gold jewellery estimated to be valued at $500,000 and US$1,200 in cash.

According to the police, the fifty-year-old taxi driver who resides with his wife and daughter went to feed his dogs and secure his shop about 8.40pm two nights ago when he was attacked by two unidentifiable males who were armed with hand guns.

The robbers forced the man into his house through his backdoor during which time they gun-butted him causing lacerations to his head.

The victim and his wife were then bound with cloth while the perpetrators ransacked the houses and carted off the aforementioned items.
