COVID claims four more lives

The Ministry of Health today said that four more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 359.

The newly confirmed fatalities are a 73-year-old Mahaica-Berbice man on May 17th, a 78-year-old female from Essequibo Islands-West Demerara on May 21 and a 42-year-old woman on that same day from Mahaica-Berbice.  Another woman, a 77-year-old from East Berbice-Corentyne passed away on May 19th.

The patients were admitted with COVID-19-like symptoms but died while receiving care at the ministry’s medical institutions. Samples were taken at the time of admission which subsequently returned positive tests.
