Trial set for men accused of murdering Rubis accountant

The trial of the three men accused of murdering Rubis accountant, Jason Cort back in 2015, is set to commence next Thursday—June 10th.

A jury was empaneled yesterday morning before Justice Sandil Kissoon who will be conducting the trial at the High Court in Georgetown.

The allegation against Clifton Gibson, Stancy Rodney and Linton Eastman is that they murdered Cort on June 17th, 2015 at his Meadow Brook Gardens home.

They have each denied the capital indictment leveled against them.

Also empaneled yesterday for trial before Justice Kissoon was the matter of Kelvin Persaud and Selwyn Dawson who are accused of the December 20th, 2017 murder of French Guiana-based clothing vendor Purcell Moore.

The jointly-charged duo have both pleaded not guilty to the charge.

This trial is scheduled to commence on June 24th.

Moore was shot and killed during a robbery at Old Road, Craig, East Bank Demerara.

Both matters will be prosecuted by state counsel Lisa Cave.
