Carjackers ambush driver in Leopold st attack

A man was yesterday robbed of his car and other valuables in an ambush at Leopold Street, Georgetown.

A police report said the carjackers parked a car in the middle of the street, blocking the path of the victim.

The 46-year-old man had been proceeding west along Leopold Street when he saw a Mazda facing east, parked in the middle of the road.

The report stated that two suspects then exited from the back of the Mazda and walked up to the victim, who remained seated in his car.

One of the suspects, armed with a gun, pointed the weapon at the victim’s head and demanded that he exit the car, while his accomplice, who was armed with a knife, searched him.

The victim was relieved of a silver Toyota Fielder Wagon with registration number PZZ 7156 valued at $2.8 million, an iPhone 7 worth $80,000, a silver chain valued $45,000 and a silver band worth $28,000.

The suspects then entered the victim’s vehicle, while a driver in the Mazda reversed, giving the suspects a clear path to escape, before also escaping.
