The Guyanese Nurses Association of America Inc. (GNAA) yesterday donated 20,000 medical masks to the Guyana Nurses Association (GNA).

The donation was handed over at the GNA’s Charlotte and Alexander streets headquarters.

In a press release, the GNAA said the masks are to be distributed to nurses and others who are providing care to patients in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keziah Nestor-Victor, President of the Young Leaders in Diabetes in Guyana, in making the presentation on behalf of the GNAA, observed that persons with diabetes were amongst the most vulnerable to the COVID virus. As a result, she said the diabetics group was pleased to be associated with the initiative as it will serve to protect not only the front-line workers but the public.

Cleopatra Barkoye, President of the GNA, thanked the GNAA for its continued support to their colleagues in Guyana, and noted that this support will provide a degree of safety to the frontline workers while they battle this virus.
