Man shot in attempted Charlestown execution

A man is now hospitalised after he came under a hail of bullets in an apparent execution attempt last Friday night.

The Guyana Police Force yesterday said that the shooting occurred around 10.50 pm at Lyng Street, Charlestown, Georgetown.

At the time, the intended victim, 33, was standing on the street when a dark-coloured car, with licence plate HD 1638, stopped and several men exited the vehicle. They subsequently discharged several rounds in his direction before re-entering the car and fleeing.

According to the police, the man suffered a gunshot wound to his right arm and was taken to a hospital, where he is presently a patient. He is in a stable condition.

When the investigators visited the crime scene, several spent .32 shells, a live. 32 round and four live 9 mm rounds were recovered.
