Bartica miner and teens injured in collision

A man and two teenagers are now hospitalised following a collision of their motorcycles at Bartica.

The Guyana Police Force, in a press release, yesterday said the accident occurred at 3.45 pm on Sunday.

At the time, Mark Griffith, 28, a gold miner, of Third Avenue, Bartica, was riding  motorcycle #CJ 3669, and the teens, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old, of Second Avenue, Bartica, were riding an unregistered motorcycle belonging to Kim Braithwaite.

The police said Griffith was proceeding east along the northern side of Third Street Bartica and failed to stop at a stop sign on the road. As a result, he collided with the side of the unregistered motorcycle being ridden by the teens.

The three fell onto the road as a result of the impact of the collision. They suffered injuries about their bodies.

The police said that the man and teens were picked up in a conscious condition and taken to the Bartica Hospital, where they were treated.

The man and the 15-year-old were admitted to the hospital, while the older teen was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital as he has a broken leg. The police are still investigating the accident.
