A Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) Enforcement Officer was stabbed to death outside of his Middleton Street, Campbellville residence in the wee hours of yesterday morning and his landlord’s son, who police say was responsible, has been arrested.

Dwayne Daniel Taitt, 24, was allegedly killed by the 42-year-old suspect, who is the son of the deceased’s landlady.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF), in a report, stated that Taitt was renting the apartment, where he lived with his wife and two-year-old daughter.

It was alleged by his wife that on Sunday, around 5.30 pm, the family of three were home when the landlady told them in the presence of the suspect that they have until July 14, 2021 to move out.

However, just after midnight yesterday they were awakened by the suspect banging on the door of their apartment with a piece of wood, instructing them to move out.

As a result, Taitt opened the door and went out to the suspect, who was armed with a knife.

Taitt ran to a street opposite the said apartment but the suspect pursued him and dealt him a stab to his chest. Taitt then fell to the ground.

He was picked up by his wife and a security guard and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

The body was examined and a wound was seen in his left upper chest. His body was later taken to the said hospital mortuary to await a post-mortem examination.

The suspect, who fled the scene with the murder weapon, was later arrested. The weapon was recovered, statements taken and investigations are in progress, the police added.
