Two more COVID deaths in Region Four, 53 new cases

Two more COVID-19 deaths along with 53 new cases of the virus were yesterday reported.

In a press release, the Ministry of Health stated that the country’s total fatalities have increased to 499. The latest deaths were identified as a 50-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man both from Region Four. They died while receiving care at a medical facility.

The new cases increased the total confirmed number in the country to 21,055. These came after some 1,505 more tests were done thus increasing the total number done to date to 203,592.

There are now 1,286 active cases, 77 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 1,209 are in home isolation. According to the regional distribution of COVID-19 cases, new infections were reported in seven regions: Regions One and Five (three new cases each), Regions Two and Nine (one new case each), Region Three (11 cases), Region Four (12 cases) and Region 6 (22 cases).

Some 10 persons are currently patients at the country’s COVID-19 ICU.
