Raids carried out yesterday by the Joint Services at the Georgetown Holding Bay and the Lusignan Prison turned up a quantity of improvised weapons and illegal substances.

In a statement, the police said that ranks in searching Holding Bay 1 discovered 25 improvised weapons, 8 lighters, 2 cellphones, a quantity of ziplock bags, 2 metal objects, and 2 cellphone cases.

For Holding Bay 2, the items seized were 14 improvised weapons, 5 chargers, 7 lighters, 3 pairs of scissors, 1 cellphone, 2 cellphone batteries, 1 cellphone housing, 1 cellphone charger, 10 small transparent ziplock bags of cannabis amounting to 3 grams, 2 metal objects, a quantity of wires, and a quantity of ziplock bags.

Meanwhile, at Holding Bays 3 and 4, ranks found a small quantity of homemade wine, 12 improvised weapons, 14 lighters, 2 pairs of scissors, 1 cellphone charger, 1 cellphone cable, a small transparent ziplock bag of cannabis amounting to half gram, and a quantity of wires.

The raids were carried out between 7 am and 10:10 am yesterday.
