Libellous accusation about atrocities

Dear Editor,

On October 27, 2020, a signed letter appeared in another section of the press.  It said in clear words that I was an accomplice before the fact in atrocities that took place in a named place in Guyana in 1964.  Acting on legal advice, I wrote to the newspaper concerned, pointing out that the publication was libellous.  I asked for a retraction of the statement and said that I would consider pursuing the matter in the proper place. The international courier has documented the delivery of my warning letter, but the newspaper in question has not published a report of my warning.  It should be noted that in my letter I did not ask for an apology, since I believe that apologies should always be purely voluntary.

I am sending this letter to all daily newspapers, so that the public may know that I have not ignored the publication.

Yours respectfully,

Eusi Kwayana
