The Guyana Police Force is yet to make an arrest over the murder of Venezuelan national Ilan Antonio Singh, who was found dead in an alleyway behind SleepIn Hotel on Church Street one week ago.

Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean, when contacted by this newspaper, said while no arrest was made, the matter remains open as police continue to investigate.

According to a police report, a SleepIn Hotel maintenance worker discovered the body of Singh, 32, of Lot 5 North Road, Bourda in the alleyway around 6 am last Sunday while on duty. The report stated that the alleyway is used by the hotel for packing garbage.

Enquiries by the police revealed that according to a female associate of the deceased, about thirty minutes after midnight, Singh told her he was going to a party at the Rio Nightclub, located at Forshaw Street, Queenstown.

His body, which was found some hours later, appeared to show wounds on his head along with bruises on his knees, right hand and his left shoulder.

An autopsy found that Singh was bludgeoned and strangled.
