Teen held over theft of US currency from cop

A seventeen-year-old was taken into police custody on Wdnesday after it was alleged that he stole US$800 from a police officer.

The theft occurred between 9.15 on Tuesday, August 17 and 12.30 am on Wednesday, August 18, at Plantation Westminster, West Bank Demerara.

Police enquiries uncovered that on Tuesday evening the victim secured her home and retired for bed. The enquiry further revealed that the victim woke later and discovered her door opened and her purse missing. The purse contained monies and other documents. The victim alerted her son, who was in his bedroom sleeping, and subsequent to investigations, the suspect, who is a neighbour and a known character in Plantation Westminster, was arrested.
