Man killed at Bourda by fleeing robbers

A 41-year-old man was killed on Thursday night at Bourda, during a robbery carried out by two men.

Dead is Cedric Hopkinson, of East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, Georgetown.

Sunday Stabroek understands that the shooting took place around 9pm at a Superbet outlet at Orange Walk, Bourda, which was robbed.

Hopkinson was subsequently taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he succumbed shortly after.

Sources told this newspaper that investigation revealed armed bandits carried out a robbery at the Superbet location and were escaping when they discharged rounds, one of which struck Hopkinson.

At the time, Hopkinson was said to be on his way to make a purchase at a nearby shop.

Up to last night, the police had not issued a statement on the killing.
