COVID claims three more lives, 19 in ICU

The Ministry of Health yesterday said that as of August 22, 2021, three more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 597.

The latest victims are a 63-year-old woman of Region Three who passed away on August 19, a man, 75, of Region Four who died on August 21 and a male, 71, of Region 10 who succumbed on August 22.

The patients were admitted with COVID-19 like symptoms and died while receiving care at the ministry’s medical institutions. Samples were taken at the time of admission which subsequently returned positive tests.

Meanwhile, the Ministry in its daily dashboard yesterday reported 36 new cases of COVID. Nineteen persons are in the ICU.
