Four women succumb to COVID, 151 new cases

Four more COVID-19 deaths were yesterday reported along with some 151 new cases of the virus.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health in a press release which stated that the country’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 606. The latest fatalities are all women: a 69-year-old, 78-year-old and 82-year- old all from Region Four passed on August 24 while a 56-year-old from Region Three died on August 25.

Meanwhile, the 151 new cases that were reported increased the total number in the country to 24,864. These came after some 1,794 tests were done, thus increasing the total number of tests done to date to 260,368.

New infections were reported in seven of the country’s ten administrative regions, with the majority being recorded in Regions Four, Six and Three with 101, 20 and 12 cases respectively. There are now 1,619 active cases, 109 of whom are in institutional isolation while some 1,510 are in home isolation.

Some 22 persons are patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit even as some 102 more persons have recovered. The country’s total recovered cases now stands at 22,617.
