Man, 28, among three latest COVID deaths

The Health Ministry on Friday confirmed three more COVID-19 deaths, including that of a 28-year-old man.

In a press release, the said the three latest fatalities – a 72-year-old man, from Region Three, and a 28-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman both from Region Four – increased the country’s death toll from the virus to 609.

The three individuals all died on August 25 while receiving care at a medical institution, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the 103 new cases recorded yesterday on the Health Ministry’s COVID-19 dashboard increased the country’s total number confirmed cases to date to 24,967. The new cases were confirmed after some 1,719 more tests were done.

According to the regional distribution of COVID-19 cases, the majority of new infections were reported in regions Four and Three, with 56 and 20 new cases, respectively. The dashboard showed 1,660 active cases, 105 of which were in institutional isolation, while 1,555 were in home isolation.

Additionally, 22 persons were patients at the country’s COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
