LONDON, CMC – Former Reggae Boy striker Theo Robinson has joined English League Two club Bradford City until the end of the season after his contract at rivals Port Vale was cancelled.

The Birmingham-born 32-year-old – capped seven times by Jamaica in 2013 – began his UK club career at Watford and went on to play for Hereford, Huddersfield Town, Derby County and Doncaster Rovers.

Robinson joined Port Vale in 2020, but left the club after the “mutual termination of his contract” in August.

“I am a hard-working player who will give my all for the team,” he said.

“The manager has shown great faith in me, so it is now up to me to repay him with performances on the pitch.

“I will thrive in front of a large crowd, so cannot wait to perform in front of a full Valley Parade. This club belongs in a higher division, and I want to be a part of the journey going forward.”

Sheffield United’s Daniel Jebbison, another forward of Jamaican descent to move during Tuesday’s final day of the summer transfer window, has left the Championship for League One Burton Albion. Jebbison, 18, who was born in Canada, has agreed a season-long loan with the Brewers. Jebbison made one appearance for the England Under-18s in March,  becoming the youngest player to score on his first Premier League start when he netted for Sheffield United against Everton in May before the Blades went on to be relegated.

On the pitch, Nathan Delfouneso, a 30-year-old striker who has Reggae Boyz eligibility, scored with a header after the break on Tuesday night as League One Bolton Wanderers edged League Two Port Vale 3-2 in an English Football League Trophy group match.
