The Guyana Lottery Company (GLC) made an official presentation yesterday to the Linden Bauxite Flyers Cycling Club at their Lamaha Street Head Office, as part of their sponsorship arrangement with the sports body.

Speaking on behalf of GLC, Brand Ambassador Rawle Toney said, “We’ve supported a lot of sports teams, players, associations; but we really haven’t done as much for Linden as we would want too. When we received the proposal from the cycling club, we immediately jumped on board.

Sponsorship is really hard to come by but the Guyana Lottery Company is always ready and willing to assist whenever we can.” According to Toney, the partnership with the Linden cycling club presents the perfect opportunity for the company to enter the Linden sporting realm, adding that GLC is looking forward to working with the club for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary/Treasurer of the club, Jeffery Yearwood, praised the company for their timely contribution, adding, “Cycling is really an inspiration for the youths of Linden and it’s something the people of Linden look forward to. Linden is known for producing a lot of sportsmen and women and we want to keep that going. This club has been known for creating the nursery of cycling and we will continue to do so. This support will really help to boost our output and activity.”

He revealed that the club is presently formulating plans to stage an event in Linden during the tourism month of November, adding that only cyclists from the Mining Town will be eligible for participation. Yearwood added that the Linden tourism authority will be engaged for the necessary and requisite approval.
