There can be selective use of prayers but not in public schools and other forums

Dear Editor,

Regardless of its origin and so-called invocation of “thy God”; we must stop reciting prayers in public schools, RDCs, NDCs and Municipalities meetings, and more so, the National Assembly sittings (where least of the divine quality is ever seen…). However, for State sponsored national and other events, prayers from all major religious faiths should continue as a mark of Guyana’s non-sectarian society.

Sincerely,

Paul Ramrattan
