STSC to stage billiards tournament today

The South Turkeyen Sports Committee (STSC) will stage a billiards tournament today at the Guyana Legion Hall on Carifesta Avenue.

According to a release from the committee, entrance fee to the event is  $1,000 per player and trophies and cash prizes donated by tournament coordinator Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell are at stake.

The committee will also host a ‘King and Queen’ dominoes competition tomorrow at the same venue.

A $1,000  fee is also required for entrance to the competition. Trophies, compliments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be awarded to the top finishers.

Similarly, the committee will conduct a champion of champions’ three-a-side small-goal football competition on Sunday at the Buxton Community Centre ground from 14:00hrs. Inclusive of the hosts, teams from the villages of Melanie, Vryheid’s Lust and Plaisance are scheduled to compete.  

Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers. Among the sponsors for the football tournament are  Antarctic Maintenance & Repairs, Alfred Mentore, Attorney-at-Law and Member of Parliament, Roysdale Forde, Ken Phillips and Attorney-at-Law Darren Wade.
