Two more with COVID-19 succumb

Two more persons who tested positive for COVID-19 have succumbed to the virus, according to the Ministry of Health.

The Health Ministry, in a statement issued on Saturday, reported that a 39-year-old unvaccinated man of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara died yesterday and a 49-year-old unvaccinated man of East Berbice-Corentyne, also unvaccinated, succumbed on Tuesday last (November 9).

With the two deaths, Guyana’s death toll from COVID-19 has increased to 957.

Meanwhile, a total of 89 new cases were confirmed by the Ministry after 1,574 tests were done. The new cases increased the country’s total number of cases to date to 36,741.

Region Four recorded 35 new cases, Region Six recorded 19, Region Two recorded 14, Region One recorded 6, Region Three recorded 5, Region Seven recorded 4, Region Five recorded 3, Region Nine recorded 2 and Region Eight recorded 1 new case. 

The dashboard also showed 2,287 active cases and 15 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
