A man and his wife yesterday died after being involved in a motor vehicle accident on the East Bank Demerara.
Dead is Nicholas Valcin and his wife, Olisa Valcin, both of Wisroc, Linden. The accident occurred in the vicinity of Caledonia.
Regional Division 4 ‘C’ Commander, Senior Superintendent Mahendra Sewnarine confirmed to Stabroek News that the couple was travelling in a car with another passenger when they collided with a canter. He also stated that further information is yet to be released by the Guyana Police Force.
Friends of Olisa told this newspaper that the mother of the Wisburg Secondary School teacher travelled to Georgetown yesterday evening to gather information about what had happened to Olisa and her husband. In the meantime, the Region 10 Department of Education extended condolences to Olisa’s family in a Facebook post which read, “Cold hands of death have snatched another one of our gems. Teacher Olisa Sanderson Valcin of Wisburg Secondary has died in a horrific accident today. May her soul rest in peace and rise in glory. The Department extends sincere condolences to her immediate and extended family, loved ones and friends.”
STEMGuyana, where Olisa was a Learning Pod Club leader and coach, also shared similar sentiments. Also using the Facebook platform it said “STEMGuyana and the Department of Youth would like to extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of our Wisburg Learning Pod club leader Ms. Olisa Sanderson Valcin and her husband Nicholas Valcin, who died in a horrific accident earlier this afternoon,” adding “words will not wipe away your tears and hugs may not ease your pain, but hold onto memories because forever they will remain.”
