The Rest Team defeated the John Jones outfit 2-1 to clinch the South Turkeyen Sports Committee three-a-side small-goal football competition senior title Sunday at the Vryheid’s Lust tarmac.
For their efforts, the Rest Team pocketed a cash prize and trophy donated by Attorney-at-Law and APNU/AFC Member of Parliament Joseph Harmon.
In the U16 sectional final, Team David Ryan defeated Team Anthony Headley 5-2. Ryan bagged a double alongside a Michael Jones brace while Colin James netted once. For the losers, Headley recorded two conversions.
The winning team walked away with the Malika/Barnwell trophy. Meanwhile, the committee will stage its ‘King and Queen’ Domino Competition on Friday at Wills Hideout in Vryheid’s Lust. An entrance fee of $1000 is required for participation. Cash prizes will be awarded to the respective winners in each division.
