Three bandits, who were armed with guns, robbed filmmaker Rae Wiltshire in the wee hours of Wednesday after they broke into his Essequibo Street, Lamaha Springs, Georgetown home.

Wiltshire was robbed of a laptop, which he uses for work, and hard drives.

He told Stabroek News that he was awakened by the sound of the robbers’ footsteps.

Wiltshire recounted that upon hearing the suspicious footsteps, he got out his bed and called out but no one answered.

After he called out, he suddenly heard knocking from outside his bedroom door, which was eventually kicked down by the masked bandits, each of whom was armed with a gun. Another bedroom door was also kicked open.

He said the three men pointed their guns at him and kept demanding money and jewellery and he told them he did not have either.

The men ended up taking his Acer ConceptD laptop, valued at US$2,000, and hard drives.

He noted that almost all of his information is stored on the laptop, which he used to edit films.

Similar attacks have been occurring in the area, he noted, while adding that his home was also broken into two years ago.

Four other persons were in the house with Wiltshire at the time of the attack. The filmmaker said no one was harmed in the attack.

Wiltshire made an appeal to members of the public to be on the lookout for his distinctive laptop, which he said is important.
