Two arrested after CANU search nets $15M in ganja

Two Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice residents are now in custody after the discovery of over 100 pounds of cannabis, estimated to be worth over $15 million.

The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) said its ranks, acting on information, made the discovery on Friday when they conducted a search at Lot 1067 New Glasgow Housing Scheme, Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice.

In a statement, CANU said several parcels containing cannabis were discovered in the presence of two individuals who were at the house.

As a result, Candacy Bennett, 34, called ‘Pinky,’ of the New Glasgow Housing Scheme address and with Dilon Cadogan, called ‘Scar,’ of Pepper Street, Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice, were arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters along with the cannabis.

CANU said that the cannabis when weighed amounted to a total 48.4 kilos, equivalent to 107lbs, with a street value over $15 million.
