The police in a statement on Sunday said that the three persons attempted to bribe lawmen at the Golden Grove Police Station, East Bank Demerara. The report stated that Odit was initially arrested on two warrants for fraud. The man, while in custody, requested a call to his lawyer which was facilitated by the police. Shortly after the call, his attorney arrived and moments later a female arrived with a package.

Police said the package was handed over to the detained man, who later asked to speak with the investigating officer during which he attempted to bribe the officer with $700,000. The police said that the investigating officer while in the company of another officer immediately told the man of the offence committed and cautioned him. The statement from the police explained that thereafter, Kuluwattie and Vishal were contacted and told of the offence of conspiracy to commit a corrupt transaction with an agent. According to the police, Kuluwattie said that Vishal told her to take the money to the Police Station.
