Hankering newspapers

Dear Editor,

Reference is made to Stabroek News’ article, “Criticisms of the Ali Administration can jeopardize the country’s pot of good governance” dated: December 2, 2021 by Clement Rohee, which was read with interest as the author posited some valid and rapid points. Of note, I proffer a quote by Napoleon Bonaparte, “Four hostile newspapers are more to be feared than a thousand bayonets”. However, I would swap one word from the quote, “hostile” and substitute with “hankering”, based on the trend over the years by the local newspapers, where they are geared more towards ensuring that our country is not plagued by poor governance, financial mismanagement and moral failings as were seen in the past.

Sincerely,

Paul Ramrattan
